This paper examines the impact of export destination concentration on domestic capital investments among Chinese export firms. We find that firms invest less when destinations are more concentrated, especially when firms are financially constrained or operate in competitive industries with irreversible assets. Our results are confirmed by a natural experiment related to the 2004 European Union expansion. Firms with concentrated destinations are less responsive to investment opportunities and behave more cautiously. Our findings emphasize the importance of understanding the global supply chain when studying investment decisions.

张潇，现为南开大学金融学院副教授。2016年毕业于格拉斯哥大学亚当·斯密商学院，获金融学博士学位。目前研究方向包括信息摩擦与企业决策、投资与企业现金持有、金融市场摩擦的资产定价影响。研究兴趣主要集中在企业财务、资产定价和中国经济等领域。研究成果在多个国际知名期刊上发表，其中包括Journal of Corporate Finance等。
