报告摘要:

Writing is more than fluent speaking or a good command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Writing is a complex task that requires training and practice of many techniques, such as organizing ideas logically, constructing sentences and paragraphs coherently, presenting with appropriate tones, formatting in a stylish manner, and executing in an ethical and professional way. Written communication reveals our intelligence of thinking, ability of using words, level of education, and so forth. Good writers are usually creative people with brilliant ideas, which can help capable writers excel in their career development. Writing skills are important to students’ employability and career advancement. Regardless of your jobs, you might need to write daily. Writing is a great way to extend your voices that conveys your thoughts and ideas to many people in the world. After this training, students can write with clarity and conciseness. They should be able to convey complex technical information in a simple way. Course materials will be presented following writing sequence. It begins with preparation and outline, continues with drafting and revision, and ends with formatting and proofreading. Admittedly, they often relate to each other and overlap without a clear boundary. The following is a brief chart of these three parts:

(1) Ethics and Professionalism

(2) Preparing and Outlining

(3) Drafting (literature review, methodology, results & discussion, conclusions)

(4) Paragraphs

(5) Sentences

(6) Words and Phrases

(7) Punctuation

(8) Finalization (formatting, proofreading and Others)

(9) Other topics upon request

报告题目:Integrating decisions with advance supply information in an assemble-to-order system报告所属学科:管理科学与工程

报告人:Kai Huang(麦克马斯特大学)

报告时间:2021年5月13日 08:00

报告地点:腾讯会议 ID:599183067

报告摘要:

We study a periodic-review assemble-to-order (ATO) system with multiple components and multiple products, in which the inventory replenishment for each component follows an independent base-stock policy and stochastic product demands are satisfied according to a First-Come-First-Served rule. We assume that the replenishment for various component suffers from lead time uncertainty. However, the decision maker has the so-called advance supply information (ASI) associated with the lead times and thus can take advantage of the information for system optimization. We propose a multistage stochastic integer program that incorporates ASI to address the joint optimization of inventory replenishment and component allocation. The optimal base-stock policy for the inventory replenishment is determined using the sample average approximation algorithm. Also, we provide a modified order-based component allocation (MOBCA) heuristic for the component allocation. We additionally consider a special case of the variable lead times where the resulting two-stage stochastic programming model can be characterized as a single-scenario case of the proposed multistage model. We carry out extensive computational studies to quantify the benefits of integrating ASI into joint optimization and to explore the possibility of employing the two-stage model as a relatively efficient approximation scheme for the multistage model.
